Greetings friends and neighbors,

I am running for State Representative for the Rutland-2 District, and hope you will support my candidacy. To share a little bit about myself…

Where I came from: I am an eighth-generation Vermonter, a descendent of the Campbells who came to Clarendon in 1774. I was raised in Rutland Town, and spent my teen years working on my uncles’ dairy farm in Center Rutland. I understand Vermont values, and I value Vermont.

Where I have been: My wife, Kate, and I have lived in Wallingford for the past 31 years, and raised our three children here. We live in an off-grid timber frame home that we helped design and build. I recently retired from making a living as a commercial diver, working throughout New England and beyond.

My community involvement includes: 20 years as a school board member, including many years serving as chair of the Wallingford and Rutland South Boards and a term as president of the Vermont School Boards Association; 15 years as Wallingford’s representative to the Rutland Regional Planning Commission; 20 years volunteering at SolarFest; three years as chair of the business committee at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, and I currently serve as moderator at that church.

Where I would like to go: Montpelier. I have worked with legislators for many years from the sidelines, and now it is time to come off the bench. I am eager to engage in productive deliberations on issues such as education, affordable health care, sustainable energy, protecting the environment, supporting farmers, creating decent jobs, promoting Vermont products and services, and whatever else it takes to help maintain the Vermont way of life. This will take commitment and common sense, and I am ready.

What I need: Your help, starting with donations to print campaign literature, pay for signs, buy ad space, etc. I am also seeking volunteers for all sorts of campaign tasks, including making phone calls, sending postcards to friends and displaying lawn signs. Please consider contributing in any way you are comfortable. Feel free to contact me at 446-3108 or .
